For several years there has been an ongoing conversation within the ICETE around what theological education at doctoral level looks like. What does it mean to prepare well, launch and sustain such a programme?
At the C18 ICETE Consultation in Panama (October, 2018) a series of seminars was held that dealt with a number of key issues in this conversation. This course is based on these seminars.
The intended outcomes are enhanced knowledge and understanding over issues of preparation and launch, faculty development, supervision, and quality assurance of global doctoral education.
This course is particularly suited for schools that already offer theological education at doctoral level or are planning to do so and for accreditation agencies involved in doctoral level quality assurance.
- Counting the cost: preparing well to launch and sustain a new doctoral program (Hunter, Dharamraj, Chang)
- Investing in faculty development for supervising doctoral student research Ott, Shaw, Tushima)
- Assessing doctoral level programs: recommended guidelines and procedures (Lawson, Lua)
This course is authored by Dr Kevin Lawson together with a team of global contributors that will be introduced in each video. Kevin serves as co-chair of the ICETE Doctoral Initiatives Steering Committee (DISC).
This is a self-paced online course.
