The prosperity gospel has become a major challenge to the sustainability of the Christian faith due to its shallowness, false promises, replacement of the Christian emphasis on the eternal plan of God for Christians with an overwhelming emphasis
on the here and now, tendency to produce "bread and butter" Christians, promotion of a poor work ethic, among others.
This course will help you to reflect on the challenges posed by the prosperity gospel to the Christian faith in Africa and the roles theological educators can play in preparing students that will appropriately respond to this challenge.
Completion of this course will be able to identify the pitfalls of the prosperity gospel and the dangers it poses to the faith, and also to discover the opportunities and strategies theological educators can utilise to prepare students to
confront this challenge.

This course is authored by Dr Enyinnaya, John O. John became involved in theological education in 1999 as lecturer at the NBTS, then served served as Rector of the Baptist College of Theology, after which he returned to
the Ogbomoso Seminary as professor and Dean of the Post Graduate school. Exposure gained while pursuing the Post Graduate Certificate in Theological Education at the Belfast Bible College and the Master of Arts in Theological Education
at the London school of Theology helped to turn his attention to the educational aspects of theological education. John is now involved, among other things, in post graduate teaching, supervisions and assessment both within
and outside the NBTS
